Academic Neuropsychiatry

Our team has been involved in organising over 100 academic meetings and collaborations. Our work has been published in various international forums- Universities around the world, international academic forums for neuropsychiatry, epilepsy, dementia, neuro-rehabilitation and a range of other specialties. Our presentations on integrated care are increasingly sought by conference leaders around the globe as non-pharmacological treatments for chronic and disabling conditions from autism to dementia achieve importance.

This academic legacy has lead to two Global Approach books with Cambridge University Press, a third book with Oxford University Press on Transcultural Neuropsychiatry on the anvil. Our in-house Buddhi books also exemplify through case studies and empirical research, the work we do.

One of the most difficult things that patients and their families encounter is the “Ivory Tower syndrome” in healthcare. We have a centre of excellence, come there for all your needs- while that may sound right when it is about acute treatment, medical procedures and specialist follow up, in the world of rehabilitation such an approach is doomed to fail. Every person with disability who comes to a healthcare facility has to be accompanied by one if not two caregivers.

At Buddhi Clinic we have been at the forefront of developing flexible points of delivery: home care, in-hospital centres (Sri Ramakrishna Hospital I Coimbatore being the first example) and soon Buddhi Online a DIY platform that will support our patients digitally, work that we have been doing through the pandemic.

Supported by the philanthropy of our donors many of whom are here and Corporate Social Responsibility of major corporate groups, with the Buddhi Clinic team contributing its time without expectation, Buddhi Seva has touched many hundred lives in a short time, leading also to two action research projects on autism and intellectual disability.
