Multiple Sclerosis & Neuroinflammatory Disorders

Multiple sclerosis is a chronic disease that affects the central nervous system, especially the brain, spinal cord, and optic nerves. This can lead to a wide range of symptoms throughout the body. All the consequences of Multiple Sclerosis or MS as it is popularly known are not purely neurological and physical.

There is no cure for multiple sclerosis. Treatment typically focuses on speeding recovery from attacks, reducing new radiographic and clinical relapses, slowing the progression of the disease, and managing MS symptoms.
The primary goal of treatment in MS is to delay the progression of the disease and limit disability over time by reducing the inflammatory component of the disease. The care plan goals for patients with multiple sclerosis is to shorten physical and mental exacerbations, and to relieve neurologic deficits so that the patient can resume a normal lifestyle.
